Overview:
As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will serve as a pivotal leader overseeing a team of skilled and semi-skilled trade personnel dedicated to maintaining, repairing, and upkeeping the facilities and equipment essential for our organization's operations. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth functioning of maintenance activities, adherence to safety protocols, and efficient allocation of resources to support uninterrupted production processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise Maintenance Activities: Provide leadership and direction to the maintenance team, including technicians and mechanics, to ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and production schedules.
• Coordinate Maintenance Tasks: Schedule and coordinate maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance, ensuring alignment with production schedules and operational priorities.
• Ensure Safe Work Practices: Enforce safety regulations, OSHA requirements, and company policies to maintain a safe work environment for maintenance personnel and other employees.
• Execute Preventive Maintenance Programs: Implement preventive maintenance programs to proactively identify and address equipment issues, minimizing the risk of unplanned downtime and maximizing equipment reliability.
• Manage Spare Parts Inventory: Oversee inventory management of spare parts, tools, and supplies necessary for maintenance activities, ensuring adequate stock levels to support maintenance operations.
• Assist in Training and Development: Provide training and mentorship to maintenance staff on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols to enhance team performance and capabilities.
• Report Maintenance Activities: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inspection reports, and generate regular maintenance reports to track performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
• Support Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with management to identify opportunities for process improvement, cost-saving measures, and implementation of best practices within the maintenance department.
• Assist in Compliance: Support compliance efforts by ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, industry guidelines, and company policies related to maintenance operations.
• Handle Personnel Matters: Assist in evaluating the performance of maintenance personnel, providing feedback, and participating in disciplinary actions as needed.
• Coordinate with External Contractors: Liaise with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance work, overseeing their activities to ensure quality and timely completion of projects.
• Respond to Maintenance Emergencies: Address maintenance emergencies promptly and effectively, coordinating response efforts to minimize disruption to production activities.
• Additional work as assigned by Manager.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance management, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance software systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to food manufacturing safety and sanitation.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands
• Frequent Movement: Regularly required to move around the facility to inspect equipment, supervise maintenance activities, and monitor the work environment. This includes walking, standing, and occasionally climbing ladders or stairs.
• Manual Dexterity: Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, operate, or feel tools and equipment. This may include tasks such as turning screws, operating machinery, and manipulating small components.
• Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally required to lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, including tools, equipment parts, and materials necessary for maintenance tasks.
• Environmental Conditions: Willingness to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to high noise levels, hot and cold temperatures, wet or humid conditions, and occasional exposure to fumes, dust, or airborne particles. May also involve working in confined spaces or at heights.
• Safety Awareness: Constant vigilance to maintain personal safety and the safety of the team. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
