The Environmental Outreach Program Coordinator is responsible for managing daily operations of Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful’s programs and the organization’s mission to foster, cultivate, and sustain a community of environmental stewardship for Gwinnett County, under the oversight of the Executive Director. The position will administer the Adopt-a-Stream (AAS) program and associated events for Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful.
Essential Duties - L eading certification classes
- Organizing and leading volunteer events (such as stream cleanups, road cleanups, storm drain marking, and other environmental enhancement projects)
- Maintaining current and developing new AAS programming
- Serving as the main liaison between AAS volunteers and Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful.
- Monitoring compliance with program objectives and maintaining applicable records and reports
- Screening volunteers/applicants to determine their eligibility for participation in specific programs
- Performing administrative tasks including preparing various demographic and statistical forms and reports regarding program operations, writing grants, and managing contracts
- Coordinating activities with other departments, agencies, and community groups to facilitate program awareness and to determine the need for additional services
Public Speaking Duties - Speaking at public events
- Conducting and leading large group programming
- Presenting to department and County leadership
Other Job Requirements/Information - This job will require after hours and weekend activities.
Grade The grade for this position is 101. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, marketing, or a social/environmental science (sociology, political science, environmental science, environmental studies, biology, ecology) AND
- Two years of experience working with citizen, volunteer, and/or youth groups
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
- Valid driver's license
- CPR certificate
- First aid certificate
- Adopt-a-stream trainer certificate
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
- Experience developing, promoting, and presenting community education and/or outreach programs
- Experience preparing reports, publications, and presentations using various software programs
- Creating outreach messaging involving water quality, natural resource conservation, and/or environmental protection

The County Administrator and County Attorney are appointed by the Board of Commissioners and serve at its pleasure. To implement the Board's policy directives, the County Administrator uses a management team consisting of members of his immediate staff and 14 department directors. The 14 departments that make up the executive side are Police Services, Fire and Emergency Services, Corrections, Communications, Support Services, Financial Services, Community Services, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Law, Planning and Development, Water Resources, Child Advocacy & Juvenile Services, and Transportation. Each department is run by a director who is charged with managing operations in a manner which stresses the County’s values.
In addition to the executive side of County government, certain services are provided through Constitutional officers and independent elected officials. These external offices are created by the Georgia Constitution or through state law. In Gwinnett, they include the Sheriff, Tax Commissioner, District Attorney, Solicitor, Probate Court Judge, and Chief Magistrate.
