About Us:

Bay Ridge Prep, a vibrant K-12 independent school in Brooklyn, NY, is excited to welcome a passionate and dynamic Dance Teacher to our Lower and Middle School team. We're looking for someone who can inspire and engage students from Grades K-8 through dance and creative movement. If you’re skilled at teaching a diverse range of students and can manage a classroom with enthusiasm, we want to hear from you!

Position Details:

• Teach dance and creative movement classes for Lower and Middle School students as part of our physical education and arts elective program.
• Lead and support performances for arts events and school functions.
• Collaborate with the arts department and school faculty.
• Embrace opportunities for professional growth and development.
• Reports to Lower and Middle School division heads and the Head of School.

Schedule:

• Full-time, ten-month position (salary is paid over the course of 12 months). 
• Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Faculty meetings are held one day each week until 4 p.m. 
• Some evening work for school events may be required and will be scheduled in advance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in dance or dance education.
• Prior teaching experience required.
• Ability to teach students with varying learning needs.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• A sense of humor and understanding of student experiences.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Must be able to navigate the school environment, including standing or bending for extended periods of time and walking up and down stairs. 
• Classroom locations vary; teaching in different rooms on different floors may be required. 
• Standard equipment includes computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers, etc. Occasional travel between nearby school buildings may be necessary.
